It's more direct and the folks mentioned will receive the funds immediately. They need us.

To All,

I hope you are well.

As you know, all of our brethren in New Orleans are severely hurting,
but more specifically those directly related to us.... and in the
forefront of our minds are:

-Adonis Rose (artist who plays with Niccolo Payton and Harry Conick
Jr.)
-Ray Fransen (owner of Ray Fransen's Drum Shop - RFDC)
-Frank D'Archangelo (staff member at RFDC)
-Woody (staff member at RFDC)

They have all lost everything - their homes, their belongings and in
the case of RFDC - the complete store.

Yamaha Corp of America is sending money to the overall Red Cross fund,
but we as a Drum Dept. wanted to do something extra for our drumming
friends in so much need.

I do not mean to impose upon you, but we thought that - as a drum
community and as members of the Yamaha family - you may want to help in
some way. By now many of you may have already given to some fund, but if
you are moved in anyway to help these specific guys out ... that would
be excellent and I can guarantee it would be greatly appreciated by all
of them.

Thanks for posting this Steve, I have updated HOD news with the info.

The aftermath of the hurricane is a lot to take, however I find myself more upset with the stories of crime that has gone down in the wake of temporary anachary (not so much the looting, but the snipers, and rape stories). It's really sad to see what people will do if they can get away with it. The whole thing stinks and I do think it is taking way too long to get APROPRIATE aid down there. Considering the mass loss of life, you would think the government would respond with an abundance of resources swiftly, I don't really see that happening.

Worse yet: it is WELL KNOWN exactly what would happen to NO in the event of a severe hurricane, as outlined in this Nova Documentary released shortly after the near-miss of Hugo outlining the weaknesses of the levy system and changes that need to be made.
Such a tragedy.

Hey, yeah everybody should help! This time it is as easy as saying it (if you have a few bucks spare)

The stealing and stuff like that (looting i think it is called) could have easily been prevented with the immediate deployment of aid preventing people from having to turn to those sorts of things to get food and water.

There is no excuse for the raping though and the other stuff that is going on, really scary stuff. I think it's this kind of stuff that scares people from coming to the U.S.A, i mean i really want to go, but the image that the media portreys in general is quite scary, the guns and stuff. Although due to HOD, i know everyone if not most people are not like that!

It didn't help much that Dubya Bush came out of airforce one with a dog, it sort of gave, at least to me, the impression that that dog was getting more care and attention than the thousands of people affected by Katrina.

Hey guys, I agree wholeheartedly with the above sentiments. Any and all intentions, prayers, or support of any kind is most appreciated . I know I speak for my fellow New Orleanians when I say THANKS. I also wanted to add an update: time estimates are from mayor Nagin that, with the introduction of several massive dredging pump devices to help pumps that already exsist,completely dewatering the city will now take a matter of a few weeks rather than months as originally surmized. I hope they keep this deadline.....
